Well, there’s certainly interest in seeing Conor McGregor lock horns with Khabib Nurmagomedov after ‘The Eagle’s’ three-round thrashing of Edson Barboza at UFC 219 andsubsequent Twitter beef with ‘The Notorious’.
Shortly after Nurmagomedov’s lopsided win over Barboza, McGregor, the current UFC lightweight champion, called Khabib’s performance ‘dog sh-t’ on Twitter and told the undefeated Dagestani to get on his knees and ‘beg’ for a fight.
Nurmagomedov, who called out McGregor and Tony Ferguson in the post-fight interview, soon fired back with his own witty post and the two lightweights are still trading barbs on social media.
Truly truly truly get on your fucking knees and beg me. Otherwise I don’t give a bollox.
My whiskey is out this year and thats Diddy bread.
I slaughter your pets and wear them as coats. And I only wear them once. https://twitter.com/teamkhabib/status/947895645104418816 …
While Nurmagomedov has been inactive as of late, fighting just three times in the past three and a half years, McGregor hasn’t fought in the Octagon in over a year and has yet to defend his lightweight title. The Irishman spent most of 2017 hyping a mega-boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr., a fight which he eventually lost via 10th-round TKO at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena this past August.
McGregor, who has hinted at coming back to MMA for a ‘true fight’, is currently trying to iron out a new contract with the UFC and wants to be paid his worth. Nurmagomedov, 29, has opted to fight McGregor and Ferguson on the same night.
