Conor McGregor knocks down sparring partner as UFC champion shares behind-the-scenes snaps ahead of Floyd Mayweather clash

Conor McGregor is thought by many to have just a puncher’s chance against Floyd Mayweather on August 26, but what a punch that can be.

The Irishman shared four pictures of a knockdown during one of his sparring sessions and boasted it was simply ‘another day for me’.

Boxing referee Joe Cortez was officiating and is seen frantically rushing to intervene as McGregor stands menacingly over his opponent who is crumpled on the canvas.

The Irishman is in the habit of sharing training footage with the possible added effect of unnerving Mayweather.

In these images the UFC lightweight champion is seen ready to go in for the kill MMA style with some ground and pound, obviously illegal in boxing, but something to get in the head of Mayweather.

McGregor’s oft-recited mantra: ‘Precision beats power, timing beats speed,’ rings true but it is his explosive left hand that tends to separate his challengers from consciousness.

That power could be his X-factor against Mayweather who is yet to taste defeat in his 49-fight career.

August 26 is less than a month away and as both men continue their physical preparation, the hype will build to a climax.

The Las Vegas showdown is expected to draw record-breaking viewing figures and couldn’t be further from just ‘another day’.
