Bejenaru dominated most of the fight utilizing his speed and angles to frustrate Bujaj. Bujaj scored a flash knockdown in the 5th round but Bejenaru showed no ill effects and continued his dominance in the 6th round. It was a hard fought and sometimes dirty fight with numerous headbutts, one of which caused a large hematoma on the right side of Bejenaru’s head. Bujaj was also deducted a point for hitting on the break in the 9th round. In the end, all 3 judges had the same scores, 97-91 in favor of the Moldovian fighter Constantin Bejenaru, who has Romania and Moldova excited about their home-grown star.
Promoter Joe DeGuardia had these comments on the fight “I knew this would be a very hard fight for Constantin but I was very confident he would come out on top which he did. He fought a very smart fight and we expect big things from him in the near future”.
The bout was co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Banner Promotions.
