“COOL HAND LUKE” SURVIVES “ECKY THUMP” IN THE DALES TO BECOME NEW WBC SILVER CHAMPION

Luke Campbell got up from a second round knockdown to outbox rugged ex champion  Argenis Mendez by unanimous decision in Leeds, Great Britain, to win the vacant WBC Silver lightweight  belt.

The dust up The First Direct Arena  Leeds,  Yorkshire was initially very even, with Luke trying the establish control, while  Dominican fighter Argenis was effectively counter punching catching the Brit with a big hard right, which placed him on the canvass in the second stanza.

That visit to the canvass, effected a dose of salts wake up alarm call for Luke,   who from there on in, shut out Argenis.

The Judges scorecards were: 116-111, 117-110 and 115-112. With this triumph, Campbell held aloft  the WBC Silver lightweight belt.
