Miguel Cotto returns to action, ostensibly for the final time, in this week’s headline fight.
Thursday, November 30
ESPN2, 11:00 pm ET, Lamont Roach vs Rey Perez, Jose Lopez vs Miguel Angel Gonzalez.
Saturday, December 2
CBS Sports Network, 1:00 am ET, Toka Kahn Clary vs John Vincent Moralde. To most, a “Friday night” fight, but TV coverage isn’t starting until 1 am ET.
Channel 5 (UK), 5:00 pm ET, Anthony Yigit vs Joe Hughes, Luke Watkins vs Mike Stafford.
HBO, 10:00 pm ET, Miguel Cotto vs Sadam Ali, Rey Vargas vs Oscar Negrete. Supposedly, this is it for Cotto, who looks to go out a 154-pound titleholder in a defense of the WBO belt he won in August. There is, of course, plenty of belief that Cotto will fight again, because a lot of fighters have retired and been drawn back, either for money or just because they can’t really let go. If Cotto is victorious, he’s going to be an attractive, money opponent for either Canelo Alvarez or Gennady Golovkin in 2018. Will he really retire? We’ll see. But that’s the story. The co-feature is a super bantamweight title fight, and Vargas has emerged as perhaps the best non-Rigondeaux fighter in that division. BLH will have live coverage.
Azteca (MEX), 11:30 pm ET, Ramon Alvarez vs Johnny Navarette.
