It’s not often that a fighter comes to the defense of his opponent when someone goes after them on social media. But that’s exactly what happened in the case of Anthony Smith and Jon Jones. The two men will meet at UFC 235 for the UFC light heavyweight title, and while they have had some tense moments between them thus far, there appears to be some mutual respect.

So when noted troll Colby Covington tried to go after his old college roommate, “Lionheart” stepped in and slapped down the ex-interim welterweight champion with authority.

It started when Colby responded to a UFC social media post promoting the UFC 235 fight with an insult directed at Jones:

Hey @JonnyBones. Nobody’s looking. Go snort a few picograms.9677:44 AM – Feb 14, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy186 people are talking about this

He checked his troll boxes. He referenced Jones’ prior cocaine use. He referenced Jones’ recent troubles with turinabol metabolites sticking around in his system. But he probably wasn’t prepared for Smith to chirp back at him:

🙄

its played out, Colby. Its not funny anymore. Stop throwing shade at my fight. Also, I heard you have a issue with me getting a title fight… next time I see you, we should talk about that. Or you gonna tuck your tail and hide in the corner of the gym like you did in Chicago?2,0688:01 AM – Feb 14, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy428 people are talking about this

Obviously we’d need someone to elaborate on said gym incident in Chicago for context, but that’s a pretty solid shot in return.

UFC 235 goes down March 2nd in Las Vegas.
