Cristofer “Látigo” Rosales, will make the first defense of his World Boxing Council flyweight title this Saturday against former Olympian Paddy Barnes,  at Windsor Park, Belfast.

Rosales, who won the WBC flyweight title in Japan in April against Daigo Higa, traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland all the way from Nicaragua, along with the three members of his team: Roger Gonzalez, Wilmer Hernandez and Gustavo Herrera.

“We are ready for the fight.  I am weighing 114 pounds and I hope to make the weight this Friday without problems.  It was a strong and powerful preparation with  almost 110 sparring rounds, against  Roman” Chocolatito “González, Félix” Gemelo “Alvarado, Byron Rojas and Marvin Solano, so I feel real good to face Barnes, “said Rosales.

Paddy Barnes (5-0), is a former Olympic boxer and medal winner. This will be his first opportunity for a world title

“The first round is going to stir, then settle what kind of fight we are going have. We must force him and and take advantage of his lack of experience, as he`s not used to going distance,” added Roger González, member of the team of Rosales.

This will be the 4th fight in the career of Cristofer Rosales in Europe and the third in the United Kingdom. Previously, Rosales lost asgianst Andrew Selby and now world champion Khalid Yafai.

“If I could win against Higa who was undefeated,  I know I can counteract Paddy Barnes,” pledged Rosales.
