CURRENT Philippine flyweight champion Felipe “Crunch Man” Cagubcob Jr. will challenge the undefeated OPBF flyweight king Daigo Higa of Japan on November 5 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Cagubcob has scored five straight wins with a record of 6 wins, 2 losses, 5 draws with 2 knockouts while Higa is still unbeaten with 10 straight wins all by KO.
Cagubcob previously captured the PH title via a 4th round KO win against Donny Mabao last July 13 at the SM Mall of Asia.
Higa won the title against Filipino Ardin Diale also by a 4th round KO last July 2 also at Korakuen Hall. Higa has already beaten five Filipinos and the others were Romel Oliveros, Renren Tesorio, Cris Alfante and Virden Rivera.
Higa stopped Tesorio by a 10th round TKO on November 17 to retain his WBC Youth World flyweight title.
Meanwhile, another Filipino pug Jun Blazo (5-1-3, 5KOs) from Leyte will also fight against former OPBF super flyweight champion Shingo Eto (18-4-1, 13KOs) in an 8-rounder super flyweight undercard.
Eto outpointed Michael Escobia also a Filipino by a unanimous decision in his last fight held May 12 in Tokyo, while Blazo previously stopped Rolando Niones by a 2nd round KO last June 18 in Laguna.
