A pair of top-10 featherweights are coming to the City of Angels.
Cub Swanson will take on Renato Moicano at UFC 227 on Aug. 4 in Los Angeles, the UFC officially announced Thursday. The Los Angeles Times first reported the fight was in the works earlier this month.
Swanson (25-9) will try to snap a two-fight losing streak in the bout. The Southern California native is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC Atlantic City last month. Swanson, 34, fell to Brian Ortega by second-round submission at UFC Fresno in December, a loss that snapped a four-fight winning streak.
Moicano (12-1-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 223 in April. The only loss of the Brazilian’s career came against Ortega last year. Moicano, 29, is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a former Jungle Fight champion.
UFC 227 is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion T.J. Dillashaw and former champ Cody Garbrandt. Also on the card, Derek Brunson faces Antonio Carlos Junior in a middleweight bout and Bethe Correia will take on Irene Aldana in a women’s bantamweight contest.
