Featherweights Cub Swanson and Tatsuya Kawajiri are lined up to fight each other at UFC Fight Night in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The UFC’s first ever event in the state of Utah is taking shape, and with one featherweight bout already targeted as the main event, another one is also in the works for the August 6th FS1 card. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reports that Cub Swanson will face Japanese legend Tatsuya Kawajiri. UFC officials haven’t confirmed the booking themselves.

Swanson (22-7) snapped a two-fight losing streak by defeating Brazil’s Hacran Dias at UFC on FOX 19 in April. The longtime contender had suffered back-to-back one-sided submission defeats to Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway, which came after he’d won six consecutive bouts. His most notable UFC wins are against Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier, and Jeremy Stephens.

Kawajiri (35-9-2) dropped a unanimous decision to Dennis Bermudez at UFC Pittsburgh in February. The 38-year-old “Crusher” is 3-2 inside the Octagon, with wins over Jason Knight, Dennis Siver, and Sean Soriano, and his other defeat aside from the Bermudez one came against Clay Guida. Once one of the top lightweights in the world, Kawajiri dropped to featherweight in 2011 and has compiled a 7-2 record in the division, and is currently ranked #14 in the UFC’s top 15 list.

The expected headliner for this event, which will take place in the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, is a matchup between TUF Latin America 1 sensation Yair Rodriguez and TUF 12 alum Alex Caceres.
