Cuban Yordenis Ugas Wins WBA Welterweight “Regular” Belt; But Pacman is the Super Champion

By Carlos Costa

Cuban veteran Yordenis Ugas (26-4, 12 KO’s) outpointed in a split decision Mexican-American Abel Ramos to conquer the vacant WBA welterweight “regular” world title Sunday evening at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA.

After ten years in pro boxing, the 34-year-old from Santiago de Cuba has finally conquered a world title, a feat made possible with the guidance of his award-winning Cuban coach 🇨🇺 Ismael Salas.

One his way to reached the welterweight belt, Ugas had to pass thru tough names as Omar Figueroa, Thomas Dulorme and Jamal James, while getting a split decision set back to Shawn Porter.

But tonight’s defeated warrior Abel Ramos (26-4-2, 20 KO’s) feels in his heart as a winner after putting in a commendable effort in the competitive rumble.

In fact, one of the judges scored tonight’s fight as a wide 117-111 in favor or Ramos.

However, that thinking was over-ruled by the other two other judges who saw it a close 115-113 for the new Cuban WBA “Regular” Welterweight world champion Yordenis Ugas.

Nevertheless, at the very top of Welterweights is WBA “Super Champion” Filipino super star Hon. Sen. Manny Pacquiao.⭐️

Will one day Ugas battle the Pacman?

He wishes so because that would guarantee the Cuban a huge paycheck.

The fact, is that now nobody knows for sure who will the Pinoy king will fight next, nor when. ✋

That’s because the inspiring Pacman has been too busy firmly dealing with pressing matters of national politics, as well as helping his Filipinos brothers and sister overcome the current pandemic, a commendable effort that the Nation will never forget.  🙏🏼
