At Teiken Boxing Gym, an official announcement that unbeaten World Boxing Council flyweight champion Daigo Higa aged just twenty two (13-0 / 13KOs) will make the first defense of his title, against WBC sixth ranked Pride of France Thomas Masson aged twenty seven, (17-3-1 / 5KOs) on October 22 at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo.
Daigo Higa was crowned WBC flyweight champion after knocking out Mexico’s Juan “Churritos” Hernandez in the sixth round in Tokyo last May. With that victory he set his brilliant record on 13 wins with 13 KO´s.
Daigo Higa’s manager is the former great world champion Yoko Gushiken, who is the greatest Japanese world champion in history Notching the most consecutive defenses of a title, with 13 in 1980.
