Dalakian vs Akui - Fightnews Asia

AKUI TO CHALLENGE WBA FLYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMP DALAKIAN IN TOKYO JAPAN.

WBA’s top-ranked flyweight Seigo ‘’Yuri’ Akui 阿久井政悟 of the popular Kurashiki Moriyasu Boxing Gym will challenge champion Artem Dalakian of Ukraine for the latter’s title on Nov. 15 at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena, Amazon Prime Video says.

The 28-year-old Akui, who has been waiting for his chance to take a crack at a world title, says to fans,

‘’I am excited because Ryogoku Kokugikan is the largest fight venue for me!

“I will bring home the championship belt to Okayama Prefecture (western Japan).

“I would like to knock Dalakian out with a straight right to mark his end.’’

The handsome Akui has a record of 18 wins, 11 of them by KO, against two losses, and a draw.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Dalakian captured the vacant title in February 2018 by out-classing the now-retired Filipino-American, and has so far successfully defended title 6 times.

Dalakian is undefeated in his 22 bouts, including 15 KOs.

Even though Dalakian has been a world champion much more than 5 years, he is largely unknown by boxing fans for two reasons.

One is that Dalakian is absolutely a boring boxer who provides no excitement to boxing fans, not even to fans his own country of Ukraine where fans prefer warriors of charisma and skills, like Usky or Loma.

And second because he defends belts only once a year as his promoters have hard time finding sponsors to showcase him.

Dalakian is a reminder of retired Indonesian former champ Chris John, who also an extremely boring boxer. Chris John made many title defenses without exciting fans, for which is is completely forgotten.

That is why tons of boxing fans in Japan and the world hope that Akui, born in Kurashiki, Okayama, could defeat Dalakian so as to bring some excitement to fans. Lets find out what will happen. What do you think?
