Fans would agree that both Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will be making a significant amount of money for their August 26^th mega fight in Las Vegas. This has led to speculations that McGregor could possibly retire from fighting, especially if he does end up victorious.

Dana White however, is positive that “The Notorious” will be back in the Octagon after the Mayweather fight. Speaking to FOX Sports, the UFC president even gave a timeline for McGregor’s return.

“I’m pretty confident (about McGregor’s UFC return),” White said. “In the conversation that I had with him, he’s fired up for this fight and he’s excited to fight again and defend his title by the end of the year. Nothing is a guarantee. You can’t be guaranteed anybody’s ever going to fight again.”

McGregor last fought in November 2016 at UFC 205, where he won the lightweight world title against Eddie Alvarez. Apart from the scrapped UFC 209 interim title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, the company has yet to resolve the power vacuum at the 155-pound division.

White, meanwhile, gave the assurance that it will all be taken care of.

“If I had to tell you right here, right now, do I think Conor’s coming back this year? I absolutely do,” White said.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor will be a 12-round fight at 154-pounds, and will take place at the T-Mobile Arena.
