In early February, it was reported that former WWE superstar turned UFC fighter CM Punk will be getting a second fight. His supposed opponent is fellow 0-1 fighter Mike Jackson, whom he is said to be facing at UFC 225 in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
On Thursday, the UFC confirmed to TMZ Sports that this fight will be taking place, through company president Dana White.
“That’s the fight,” White told reporters when asked about Punk’s next UFC fight. “You’re asking me questions you already know the answers to.”
The 39-year-old Punk (Phil Brooks in real life), made his UFC debut in September 2016 at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall. He ended up being stopped via rear-naked choke submission inside three minutes.
Jackson also fought Gall seven months prior, during the UFC’s Fight Night event in Las Vegas. He lost via the exact same manner in under a minute.
UFC 225 is scheduled to take place on June 9th at the United Center. It will be headlined by the middleweight title rematch between champion Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero.
