Dana White refuses to promote Liddell-Ortiz trilogy: ‘I love Chuck, but 50-year-olds shouldn’t be fighting’

There have been lingering talks about a potential third fight between UFC Hall-of-FamersChuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. As Ortiz himself claimed, he had already spoken to a few UFC matchmakers about turning this matchup into a reality.

Ortiz was then put on blast by Chael Sonnen for making an “unloyal, scumbag move” of wanting this fight to take place in the UFC instead of Bellator. From the UFC’s end, however, the fight is already a dead issue.

In his recent run-in with TMZ Sports, UFC president Dana White personally shut the door on the said matchup mainly showing concern for Liddell, who also happens to be a long-time friend of his.

“No,” White said when asked if he was interested in promoting the fight. “Chuck’s almost 50 years old. I love Chuck Liddell, but 50-year-olds shouldn’t be fighting.”

“I couldn’t do that fight. I love the guy. I love Chuck Liddell, I love him. As a friend, I don’t think he should fight. And anybody around him who cares about him shouldn’t let him fight either.”

Liddell, now 48 years of age, last fought in 2010 at UFC 115, where he was knocked out cold in the first round by Rich Franklin.
