UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is a busy man these days. And yet, here he is adding another important responsibility to his plate.

Cormier has been named the Gilroy High School head wrestling coach, the school announced Tuesday. Gilroy is a city located in Northern California’s Santa Clara County, and it is where Cormier currently resides with his wife and two children.

In addition to his new high school job, Cormier will continue serving as the head coach of the Daniel Cormier-AKA Youth Wresting club. He also has programs in place at two local San Jose gyms, LUTE! Training Academy and Knoxx Gym.

He is also preparing for a heavyweight title fight against champion Stipe Miocic on July 7 and is one of the UFC’s busiest television analysts.

“This opportunity is huge for me,” Cormier told MMAFighting.com. “Wrestling has been the foundation for everything I’ve done. I’m excited to coach a great team in Gilroy and excited to give back to the town that has accepted me and my family so openly.”

Cormier said he will not earn any money from the high school. Instead, he’ll opt to give his stipend to his assistant coaches, which include MMA veteran Shawn Bunch, a two-time NCAA All-American at Edinboro University, and MMA prospect Kyle Crutchmer, a two-time NCAA All-American at Oklahoma State University.

“Thank you to (principal) Dr. Marco Sanchez for giving me this opportunity and thanks to my wife Salina for allowing me to pile more onto an already full plate,” he added.
