And now the 19-year-old will fight David Howe, the man he was set to come up against on his debut last month, at the Copper Box Arena in London.

The fight, which will take place over four rounds, forms part of the undercard to Liam Walsh’s IBF super-featherweight title challenge against Floyd Mayweather protégé Gervonta Davis.

Howe has a record of 13-5 with six early. He was last in action on April 22 when he claimed a points victory over young Glaswegian Jay McFarlane but was before than taken out inside two rounds by David Allen, the future vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title challenger, on March 4 at the O2 Arena in London, as part of the undercard to Tony Bellew’s sensational 11th-round stoppage victory over David Haye.

Their showdown is part of a 14-fight bill which also features Chris Hobbs in a defence of his Southern Area light-heavyweight title against powerful undefeated puncher Anthony Yarde and Ryan Walsh’s third defence of the British featherweight crown against Marco McCullough as he bids to secure the Lonsdale belt for keeps.

Also on the card, there is a battle of the undefeated super-welterweights as Joe Pigford takes on Aarron Morgan and Boy Jones Jr., who lost his Southern Area super-featherweight title after being knocked out by Craig Poxton in February, will return before boxing again on June 2 in Brentwood.

The card is completed by a whole host of undefeated prospects, including Sammy McNess, Lerrone Richards, Lucien Reid, Archie Sharp, Sanjeev Sahota, Ben Smith, Mitchell Smith and Sunny Edwards.
