Daniel Roman and Enrique Quevedo will face off over a scheduled 10 rounds at Omega Products International in Corona, California, on Friday, August 26.
Roman, 26, is a six-year pro who fights out of Garden Grove, California (19-2-1, 7 KOs). Eighth-ranked by the WBA, “The Baby Faced Assassin” won the vacant WBA-NABA super bantamweight title in July 2015 by beating Daniel Noriega via unanimous decision. He’s successfully defended three times, most recently this May when he knocked out Christian Esquivel in the fifth. Never stopped, Danny hasn’t lost since October 2013, defeated by Juan Reyes via unanimous decision.
His 32-year-old opponent, an 11-year ring vet fighting out of Los Algodones, Baja California, Mexico (16-7-1, 10 KOs), has won regional and minor titles, but hasn’t fought since July 2014 when he stopped Yoandris Salinas by fifth-round TKO. Although on the losing end seven times, “Cuate” has only been stopped once, by Gerson Guerrero who won by 10th-round TKO in June 2009.
“I’m always trying to improve and get better with every fight,” says Roman. “Quevedo presents another challenge for me. I see him as someone that is in my way for what I want to accomplish.”
