One of featherweight’s most resilient contenders will meet a promising up-and-comer at UFC Boise.

Darren Elkins will put his remarkable six-fight win streak on the line when he takes on Australian prospect Alexander Volkanovski on July 14 at UFC Boise. Both fighters confirmed the booking Wednesday on social media.

Elkins (24-5) is in the midst of the best run of his eight-year Octagon career. Aided by a move to Team Alpha Male, the 33-year-old veteran has strung together six consecutive wins highlighted by a second-round submission of Michael Johnson and a legendary comeback over top prospectMirsad Bektic.

Though he is only the No. 10-ranked featherweight in the UFC, Elkins has quietly put together one of the division’s best records, racking up a 13-3 record since dropping down to 145 pounds in 2011.

He’ll now look to preserve his place in title contention against Volkanovski (17-1), a hard-charging 29-year-old prospect who is a perfect 4-0 under the UFC umbrella.

“The Great” kicked off his Octagon run in 2016 with victories over Yusuke Kasuya, Mizuto Hirota, and Shane Young, but then stamped his place among the most intriguing up-and-comers in the featherweight division with a second-round knockout over the previously undefeated Jeremy Kennedy at UFC 221.

UFC Boise takes place at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. The event is headlined by a heavyweight contest between former UFC champion Junior dos Santos and ex-WSOF titleholder Blagoy Ivanov.
