Former International Boxing Federation world no. 1 rated Michael “Hot ‘N Spicy” Dasmarinas of Pili, Camarines Sur settled a draw with Ernesto “Chocolate” Saulong of Mindoro Occident after a cut suffered by Saulong on his left eyelid due to an accidental headbutt last December 4 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
The end of the classic fight was in the 2nd round.
Dasmarinas was looking for his comeback fight since he lost in his last fight against undefeated Naoya Inoue for the World Boxing Association Super World and IBF World bantamweight titles last June 19 in Las Vegas.
The 29-year-old Dasmarines will now transfer to the 122 lbs. or super bantamweight division according to his manager Art Monis.
“Hindi na niya kaya talaga ang 118 (He can no longer really 118),” said Monis.
Dasmarinas now has 30 wins with 20 knockouts against three loses and two draws while Saulog has three draws with 22 wins and seven loses.
Meanwhile, Carl Jammes “Wonder Boy” Martin of Ifugao is now the new Philippine super bantamweight champion after detrowning Mark Anthony “El Heneral” Geraldo of Bukidnon via a unanimous decision.
The 22-year-old Martin remained undefeated with 18 wins and 15 knockouts while Geraldo suffered his 10 defeats against 38 wins with 19 knockouts and three draws.
