UFC 224 has its first two fights.
At the UFC Belem post-fight press conference, executive David Shaw announced Davi Ramos vs. Nick Hein and Alberto Mina vs. Ramazan Emeev for the May 12 pay-per-view at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
Weight classes were not announced for the fights, but Ramos and Hein have typically competed at 155 pounds. Mina most recently fought at 170 pounds, while Emeev has discussed dropping down to the welterweight division after winning a 189-pound catchweight fight against Sam Alvey (who came in heavy for the contest).
Both Ramos (7-2) and Hein (14-2, 1 NC) are coming off of victories. Ramos defeated Chris Gruetzmacher by third-round submission in December, and Hein picked up his third consecutive unanimous decision win when he outpointed Tae Hyun Bang at a UFC Fight Night event back in September 2016.
The two lightweights previously announced the matchup on their social media accounts.
Mina sports a 13-0 professional MMA record, including three wins inside the Octagon. The 35-year-old Brazilian has not fought since July 2016, when he defeated Mike Pyle with a flying knee knockout.
Emeev (16-3) fights out of Dagestan, Russia. He has won five consecutive fights, including his UFC debut against Alvey last October.
