Davies vs Catterall at Leicester Arena on October 6 – Tickets On Sale!

Tickets for the upcoming show ‘The Time is Now’ at the Morningside Arena, Leicester on October 6th are available to purchase NOW from Eventbrite and Ticketmaster.

The show, which will be exclusively live on BT Sport, will be headlined by the eagerly anticipated encounter between super-lightweights Jack Catterall and Ohara Davies. Also on the show is huge heavyweight prospect, Daniel Dubois who will step up and take on the big-talking boxing veteran, former world title challenger Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson. Double Olympic Gold medalist Nicola Adams also features.

The local interest fighting on the show will come from Leicester’s own Lyon Woodstock, when he defends his WBO European super-featherweight title against Essex man Archie Sharp and British super-featherweight champion Sam Bowen of Ibstock, Leicestershire, will make his televised debut and maiden outing under the Frank Warren banner.

Jack Catterall and Ohara Davies have been trading verbals to one another all year and both will now compete against each other to see who will progress closer towards a world title fight.

Chorley man, Jack Catterall was involved in an entertaining encounter last time out when he stepped into the ring in Belfast to take on their local fighter and a very game opponent, Tyrone Mckenna. Catterall knocked down McKenna twice before claiming victory by a majority decision and successfully defending his WBO InterContinental Super Lightweight for the eighth time.

“This is my big opportunity, this is my big shot and I can’t wait to take it with both hands.” said Catterall. “I respect him as a fighter, but I see a lot of flaws and on October 6th I’m going to exploit them.”

Ohara Davies signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren at the beginning of this year and has had his sights set on a clash with Catterall ever since.

“I want to fight Catterall this year because he is someone who everyone says can beat me. Because he is a name that people rate he is someone I want to fight, so I can show everyone that I can beat these guys.” explained Davies back in February.

Davies has since gone on to fight twice this year; first, outpointing Ahmed Ibrahim in May at Elland Road, Leeds, then emphatically knocking out Paul Kamanga at the O2 Arena in June.

“I think he’s been waiting for this fight, I’ve already been in a big fight, I’m a name. Jack’s a good fighter and he’s been waiting for this big shot, he’s worked his way up and it’s going to be a great fight.”

WBO world-ranked Jack Catterall insists he’s disinterested in – and unconvinced by – Ohara Davies’ self-proclaimed behavioural changes.

Lancashire’s Catterall (22-0-KO12) clashes with Davies (18-1-KO14) at the Leicester Arena on October 6 with some expecting the Londoner to unleash his trademark verbal explosions at some stage of the build-up.

For his part, Davies insists he’s a reformed character when it comes to his treatment of rivals. ‘Two Tanks’ even made a bet with iFL TV’s Kugan Cassius he’ll be able to retain his new-found discipline until fight night.

Catterall – relatively quiet and respectful towards all his opponents to date – is adamant he simply doesn’t care.

‘El Gato’ said: “I’m not interested in any of it really. I think the fight is good enough to sell without me acting out of character and kicking off or joining in with any trash talk.

“He’s known for talking trash so we’ll see as the fight gets closer whether he reverts to type. I don’t think I’ll wind him up. If anything, he’ll wind himself up and end up saying something.

“I don’t mind him as a person. I don’t agree with some of the comments he’s made in the past but we all say and do things sometimes that not every agrees with. I wouldn’t say I like him but I don’t have any hate towards him.

“I’ve picked up a lot of fans along the way by just focusing on fighting. There’s no need for me to manufacture trash talk. He can do what he wants and say what he wants but this fight sells itself.”

Also on the bill, which will be shown live on BT Sport, is MTK Global’s unbeaten super-featherweight Archie Sharp stepping up to challenge Leon Woodstock for the WBO European title.

Ohara Davies made the first move towards winning a wager with iFL TV’s Kugan Cassius as he credited opponent Jack Catterall ahead of their October 6 showdown.

‘Two Tanks’ (18-1-KO14) has caused controversy in the past with his outspoken nature – particularly his slander of rivals – but made a bet with Cassius that he would do no such thing ahead of facing world-ranked Catterall (22-0-KO12).

Davies said: “As a person, I think Jack is OK. We actually had a chat once. I don’t remember exactly what was said but we exchanged a few words and I really think he’s OK as a person.

“The only thing is that he’s in my weight class so I put the fact he’s OK as a person to the side. I have to treat him as my enemy until the fight’s done and then there’ll be no hard feelings.

“I rate him really highly as a fighter. He hasn’t got where he’s got for no reason. He’s been British champion and he’s got a WBO ranking titile. Jack also has a great coach in Jamie Moore, who I look up to.

“All in all, Catterall deserves to be where he’s at in the game. It’s just I’m going to be the one to dethrone him in October.”

Davies and Catterall clash on an impressive bill at the Leicester Arena, where the pair’s MTK Global stable-mate Archie Sharp also challenges Leon Woodstock for the WBO European super-featherweight crown.

HALL of Fame promoter Frank Warren will stage a massive night of boxing at Leicester Arena on Saturday October 6.

The show will feature Britain’s number one female boxer Nicola Adams (4-0) challenging for her first world title on the BT Sport televised card.

One of the biggest fights in domestic boxing takes place when Chorley’s WBO intercontinental super-lightweight champion Jack Catterall (22-0) meets WBC international super-lightweight champion Ohara Davies (18-1) with both belts at stake.

Londoner Davies isn’t scared of shooting from the lip and the build-up and fight against Catterall where the winner will be primed for a world title tilt will not be for the feint-hearted.

Warren believes Daniel Dubois (8-0) is the finest prospect in the heavyweight division, but the man who has KO’d every opponent faces his toughest night against Kevin Johnson (32-10-1).

The iron-chinned American went the distance with Vitali Klitschko in a WBC world title challenge in 2009 and also lasted the 12 round distance with Tyson Fury in a world title eliminator.

He represents a huge step up in class for Dubois who is tipped to dominate the heavyweight division.

The rivalry between Leicester hero Lyon Woodstock (11-0) and Welling’s Archie Sharp (13-0) has spilled over on social media and the pair will settle their spat in the ring.

Woodstock will be defending his WBO European super-featherweight title and the winner will be in line to face British champion Sam Bowen (13-0).

Bowen has his first ever fight under Warren’s promotional banner on the bill with his British title likely to be on the line.

Adams opponent will be confirmed in the next week.

“I am so pleased that we have put together such a strong card stacked with competitive fights for fans and those watching on BT Sport.

“Jack and Ohara is just a mouth-watering fight and we decided to put it on neutral territory in fairness to them both.

“Last time we went to Leicester one of the reasons we had a good turnout was because of local hero, Leon and that is a big reason we are there again.

“His fight against Archie is a pick ‘em and like Jack and Ohara, they are enemies and not friends.

“There is plenty of beef there and it could come down to the coolest head on the night in both fights.

“When Nicola turned professional I promised she would get a world title fight and we have delivered that in her fifth professional fight.

“And Sam Bowen, I am absolutely delighted he has signed a promotional agreement with us and also to be working with his manager Carl Greaves who has been vocal about how good Sam is.

“There are big fights in and outside our stable for him with Lyon, Archie and Zelfa Barrett all in the queue, but I know Carl is looking beyond British titles.

“Everyone knows my opinion on Daniel Dubois and Johnson may well be the man to give him rounds. I don’t think too many if any prospects have met Johnson so soon in their career.”
