Former two-time IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (24-2-1, 14 KOs) will return to action tonight at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. DeGale vacated the IBF world title in July, saying “I’m in the final phase of my career where I have a few good years left where I can be involved in massive fights and really leave a legacy in the division’s history.”
DeGale’s bout tonight against Fidel Monterrosa (39-18-1, 31 KOs) won’t be the main event, in fact, it may be off-TV altogether. Monterrosa’s main claim to fame is fighting for the WBC lightweight title in 2010. This will be Monterrosa’s second bout in the light heavyweight division.
