Demetrius Andrade splits with promoters, Yamaguchi Falcao fight off

Andrade has averaged less than two fights per year since 2012

The ongoing saga of Demetrius Andrade vs. Everything Except Actual Boxers took another turn today, as the 2008 Olympian has come to terms with his promoters to terminate their agreement. “Boo Boo” is now a free agent and will not, in fact, be facing Yamaguchi Falcao on the undercard of HBO’s July 21st Jaime Munguia-Liam Smith/Alberto Machado-Rafael Mensah show.

Andrade (25-0, 16 KO) has had five fights total since his 2013 win over Vanes Martirosyan, the most notable opponents being Willie Nelson and Jack Culcay. One can only hope this separation will get him back in the ring with non-epochal frequency, as it’s almost reached the point where these sorts of shenanigans have become more engrossing than his actual fighting.

He’s in every sanctioning body’s top five at the moment, including a #1 spot in the WBO rankings. With James DeGale dealing with Jose Uzcategui, there’s a vacancy opposite champ Billy Joe Saunders in his September 15th return. Think they’ll make the blatantly obvious fight or are things just going to get overcomplicated and dumb again?
