British heavyweight Dereck Chisora and David Haye have apparently made amends as the two former rivals enter into a business agreement with Chisora signing to Haye’s management group. Chisora says that Haye is the perfect person to take his career to the next level.
“Boxing is a business,” Haye said as the deal was announced. “You need characters, you need drama and with Dereck Chisora you are going to get that. When we sat down and spoke to each other it felt like it would be a big task to get the best out of Dereck, but it’s a challenge. I like challenges.”
Chisora and Haye once had a bitter feud which wound up a thing of legend when the two ended up in a 2012 melee where Chisora would infamously scream “He glassed me!” during the scuffle. The two would fight just months later where Haye would stop Chisora in five rounds.
All of that must be behind them now.
With the signing Chisora will continue to be promoted by Matchroom and Hayemaker Ringstar. He’s expected to be taking on Dillian Whyte in a rematch on Dec. 22, although no official announcement of that fight has been made at this time.
