Everything is bigger in Texas. Including the UFC matchups.
Derrick Lewis will take on Marcin Tybura in a battle of heavyweights at UFC Austin on Feb. 18, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani confirmed with sources Thursday. MMAjunkie was the first to report the news.
Lewis (18-5, 1 NC) was supposed to face Fabricio Werdum at UFC 216 last month, but pulled out due to a back injury on the day of the fight. The Houston native is coming off a fourth-round TKO loss to Mark Hunt in June. Lewis, 32, was on a six-fight winning streak heading into that bout.
Tybura (16-3) most recently fell to Werdum via unanimous decision at UFC Sydney earlier this month. Before that, the Polish fighter had won three straight. Tybura, 32, is the former M-1 heavyweight champion.
UFC Fight Night 126 has yet to have a main event announced. Also on the card, Ray Borg will face Brandon Moreno in a scrap between two top flyweights.
