Lightweight prospect Devin Haney recently signed with Matchroom Boxing, and the 20-year-old fighter has been understandably treated as a very big get.

Speaking with DAZN’s AK and Barak, Haney (21-0, 13 KO) was asked about fighting Mikey Garcia someday, and he turned that into a statement that he wants to face all the top guys in his career.

“If he’s at 135, we could fight. When I go to 140, we can fight. I want to fight those top guys,” Haney said. “When I go down in the history books, at the end of my career, I want them to say I didn’t duck nobody. That he fought all the top guys — win, lose, or draw, he fought. And I don’t see myself losing.”

Asked where he gets that sort of confidence from, Haney said it’s just self-belief.

“I really feel like I’m the real deal. The people that know me, they know that I really am,” he said. “I haven’t fought the top guys yet because I haven’t been in that position and I’m only 20 years old. But these top guys in sparring, I demolished them, made them look like amateurs in there. I really feel like I’m really the real deal. Some people sparring don’t count, but what you do in the gym is what you’re gonna do in the fight.”

Haney is currently slated to make his DAZN debut on May 25. He was originally scheduled to be on the Usyk-Takam undercard in Maryland that night, but with Usyk hurt and out of the date, promoter Eddie Hearn says he’s considering taking the fights to Las Vegas with Haney’s bout against Antonio Moran (24-3, 17 KO) in the main event of a smaller show.
