Devon Alexander comeback successful

Former two-division world champion Devon Alexander “The Great” returned to the ring Tuesday night following a two-year layoff during which he battled opiate addiction. Southpaw Alexander (27-4, 14 KOs) scored a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over Walter Castillo (26-5-1, 19 KOs) in a welterweight bout at the historic Coliseum located in downtown St. Petersburg. Florida. Alexander dropped Castillo at the end of round two and was in command in every second of every round. Scores were 100-89, 100-89, 96-93.

Unbeaten welterweight Miguel Cruz (17-0, 11 KOs) pounded out a ten round unanimous decision over David Grayton (15-2-1, 11 KOs). Scores were 96-93 across the board. Grayton was down from a jab in round six.

Welterweight Gary Antuanne Russell (3-0, 3 KOs) scored a first round KO over Larry Yanez (4-8-2, 0 KOs). Russell is the brother of WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell.
