On September 16, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz and Mexican “Jorge” Pilón “Lara fight each other in a featherweight eliminator, endorsed by the WBC, as a part of the card starring Golovkin vs. Canelo.
Lara is confident of gaining victory and with it, a world title opportunity.
“We have been preparing well. It’s good to fight on a big card. I’m going to go out on the night to do my job, in order to be able to reach the world title. We will arrive in a great condition.”
Lara, who currently trains with former world champion Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez, holds a perfect mark of 29 to zero, two draws and 21 knockouts. On the other hand, “JoJo”, who was in the Olympic for the United States in London 2012, also remains undefeated after joining the pro ranks, with a record of 24 to zero including 13 knockouts.
