American Joe ‘JoJo’ Diaz and Mexican ‘Jorge’ Pilón ‘Lara collide on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in support of the expected fight between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez.
Diaz vs. Lara will be a featherweight elimination bout endorsed by the World Boxing Council. The winner will face the division champion, Gary Russell Jr., who comes from defeating Colombian Oscar Escandon.
Diaz participated in the 2012 Olympic games and debuted as pro in that same year. As a professional he has 24 wins with 13 knockouts, without defeat. While Lara, a hard fighter who knocked out former world champion Fernando “Kochulito” Montiel in the first round has 29 wins with 21 knockouts and two draws.
