Diego Ferreira failed to register his weight at Friday’s UFC 237 weigh-ins and subsequently, his lightweight meeting with Francisco Trinaldo has been scrapped from the card.
MMA Fighting was informed of the situation during the weigh-in ceremony in Rio de Janeiro on Friday morning, and the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) confirmed the news.
Trinaldo (23-6-0) was set for his first competitive outing in 2019 after his scheduled January fights with Islam Makhachev and Alexander Hernandez never came to fruition. A veteran of 18 UFC appearances, Trinaldo successfully registered his weight at 154.5 pounds on Friday morning, before the news of Ferreira’s withdrawal circulated.
Ferreira (15-2-0) is currently on a four-fight win streak with the UFC. The reason for his 11th-hour withdrawal at still unknown.
Update: The Brazilian commission, CABMMA, scratched the lightweight contest from the UFC 237 card after it was discovered that Ferreira had kidney stones, MMA Fighting has learned.
