One of the UFC’s longest-tenured fighters will take on a top prospect at UFC 235.
Officials announced Friday that Diego Sanchez will fight Mickey Gall in a welterweight bout at the March 2 pay-per-view set to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Gall, 26, first mentioned wanting a fight with Sanchez back in August and both expressed interest in making the matchup happen. In five UFC outings, Gall has gone 4-1 with notable submission wins over Sage Northcutt and CM Punk. All of Gall’s pro victories have come by way of rear-naked choke.
This will mark Sanchez’s 29th appearance inside the Octagon. The 36-year-old has been with the UFC since 2005, when he won the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter as a middleweight and has since competed at welterweight, lightweight, and featherweight. Sanchez (28-11) recently snapped a two-fight skid with a unanimous decision win over Craig White in September and his UFC record stands at 17-11.
