Avid boxing fan Miguel Guillermo Campero Garcia is all at sea, training for a fight which is going to take somewhat longer than twelve rounds!
Introduced by the great Edgar Sosa at the Deportivo Metro, Miguel uses strokes rather than blows to triumph, as he`s an accomplished long distance swimmer.
The holder of the prestigious Triple Crown which has culminated in successful swims of the Catalina Channel, around Manhattan Island and across the English Channel, Miguel is now preparing for an even chillier challenge. This September, he`ll be swimming the frigid North Channel, better known as the Irish Channel, which divides North East Ireland from South West Scotland.
Training is being done in Mexico City`s Olympic Pool and La Marquesa Lake in Toluca.
Roughly half the distance of the English Channel, the Irish Channel is appreciably nippier and the waves are lot choppier.
Irish eyes are smiling and Mexican fighting spirit WILL prevail. Good Luck Mickey!
