Dmitry Bivol vs. Trent Broadhurst, Jamie McDonnell vs. Liborio Solis II headline 11/4 Monaco show

By Badlefthook.com

Broadhurst is not ranked in the WBA Top 10

Okay, this makes no sense even by boxing standards.

After WBA light heavyweight champ Badou Jack vacated his title on Saturday, interim champ and mandatory challenger Dmitry Bivol got the call to fight for the vacant belt, as expected. What’s unexpected is that he’s fighting #11-ranked Trent Broadhurst for the belt in the headliner of a November 4th show in Monte Carlo.

#2 Sullivan Barrera is pissed.

Barrera doesn’t have a fight booked. #3 Oleksandr Gvozdyk doesn’t have a fight booked. #4 Karo Murat doesn’t have a fight booked. #6 Shefat Isufi doesn’t have a fight booked. #8 Felix Valera doesn’t have a fight booked. #9 Marcus Browne doesn’t have a fight booked. This is dumb as hell. Broadhurst (20-1, 12 KO) has zero quality wins.

Luckily, the rest of the card isn’t as egregious. In the co-main event, Jamie McDonnell (29-2-1, 13 KO) finally rematches Liborio Solis (22-5-1, 11 KO) almost exactly a year after their controversial first go-round. This fight was ordered in February. Boxing is dumb.

Dereck Chisora and Scott Quigg are the other two big names, taking on Agit Kabayel and Oleg Yefimovych, respectively. Kabayel (16-0, 12 KO) is ranked #12 by the WBC to Chisora’s (26-7, 18 KO) #8 and the article lists Quigg (33-1-2, 24 KO) vs. Yefomiovych (29-2-1, 16 KO) as a WBA eliminator.

Sky Sports will have the whole card live. If I’m reading the article correctly, Bivol-Berridge will be shown stateside on HBO.
