Former amateur and professional boxer Antonio Roldán Reina was presented with a very special recognition, receiving an honoris causa doctorate from the “Universidad Instituto Cultural Americano, s.c.” for his sporting feats.
The event took place at the national museum San Carlos, and the presentation was made by Dr. Rubén Angel Manriquez Salas, Rector of this Institution.
The Museum Auditorium was attended by approximately 200 people, who witnessed how 17 great men were recognized.
Among the public there was the family of Antonio Roldan, who before being a professional boxer, won a gold medal at the 1968 Olympic Games, held here in Mexico City.
Roldán Reina recalled, among other things, the magnificent treatment he has received from the Presidents of the World Boxing Council, particularly Jose and Mauricio Sulaiman, and the many long talks he held with each one of them.
