Leon Edwards is getting the big fight he has been looking for.
In fact, “Rocky” is getting someone he called out last year.
The UFC is close to finalizing Donald Cerrone vs. Edwards as the main event of their June 23 fight night card, MMA Fighting has learned. The event is expected to take place in Singapore, though, the promotion has yet to announce the specific location for the card just yet.
Edwards (15-3) has won his last five fights in a row. He’s coming off a last-second TKO victory over Peter Sobotta in March. Following his win over Bryan Barberena last September, Edwards actually called out Cerrone in his post-fight interview, however, the UFC elected to book “Cowboy” versus Darren Till.
In February, Cerrone (33-10, 1 NC) snapped a three-fight losing streak when he defeated Yancy Medeiros via first-round TKO.
The event will mark the UFC’s third trip to Singapore.
