Featherweight KO artist Doo Ho Choi will fight Cub Swanson at UFC 206 in Toronto.
After Doo Ho Choi’s most recent KO win, “The Korean Superboy” called out Cub Swanson in one of the most polite ways imaginable. Consider Choi’s wish granted, as he will fight Swanson on Saturday, December 10th, at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The UFC announced the matchup on Thursday.
Choi (15-1) is a lethal power puncher who has finished 12 fights by KO or TKO. The 25-year-old is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC, and is coming off a brutal 1st round stoppage of Thiago Tavares. He also holds wins over Sam Sicilia and Juan Manuel Puig inside the Octagon. Choi’s entire UFC career has lasted just 4 minutes and 33 seconds.
Swanson (23-7) has rebounded from consecutive submission defeats to Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway, having scored unanimous decision wins this year over Hacran Dias and Tatsuya Kawajiri. The longtime featherweight contender has an impressive resume of victories, including over Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, and Jeremy Stephens. Current UFC rankings have Swanson at #5 and Choi at #14.
UFC 206 is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. Dana White confirmed on Wednesday that those two would be the headlining act, after the initial announcement had never specified that it was the main event.
