EVERYTHING is now set for the much-awaited double Luzproba Championships on Saturday, November 5 at the Benguet State University Gym in Barangay Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet.

“It’s all systems go after we had postponed this event due to the typhoon Lawin last month,” said matchmaker Francis Versoza of the Highland Boxing Promotions.

Highland’s Bener Santig (4-1-1-1KO) will be fighting Edward Camion (2-4-1-2KO) for the vacant Luzon Professional Boxing Association featherweight title, while undefeated KJ “Matumbo” Natuplag (3-0-3 KOs) is facing fellow unbeaten Bryan Tamayo (3-0-2 KOs) for the vacant Luzproba bantamweight crown.

Santig won his last two fights including a 4th round technical knockout against Alimar Francisco last June 10 in Mandaluyong City, while Camion dropped both his last two outings including a split decision to John Kenan Villaflor last July 26.

The 20-year old Natuplag, on the other hand, won all his three fights by KO or TKO. In his previous outing, the native of La Trinidad stopped Jeric Potaso in the first round last September 3 at the SMX in Pasay City.

Tamayo, also 20, however, only has two knockouts with one unanimous decision win in his three fights. The boxer from Western Samar previously retired Rex Merceno in the 3rd round last July 16 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque.

“Magandang laban talaga itong Natuplag at Tamayo (This is really a good fight between Natuplag and Tamayo),” said promoter Brico Santig.

Pitted in the main event is a non-title fight between Luzproba super bantamweight king Ralph Jhon “Bomber” Lulu against (12-0-2-5KOs of Sultan Kudarat against Danny Tampipi (5-6-2-3KO) of Pagadian.

The other match-ups are super bantamweight Roman Canto (11-8-3) of MB Boxing Promotion against Jomar Borbon (4-25-2); Freddie Gomera (debut) versus Aldren Calombang (debut) and Erwin Cebuhano (4-1-0) against Mark Baliqued (debut).

Meanwhile, two exciting Philippine Mixed Martial Arts Fights dubbed as the “Highland Hustle” will also be held on Nov. 5 at the La Trinidad Municipal gym in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Biondi “Bioman” Dayangabang of Highland Gym will fight Jomar “Rush” Manlangit of Yawyan Kampian for the RP MMA flyweight championship, while female MMA fighter Jesebelle Pagaduan of Freestyle takes on Freenie Mae Carantes of Team Lakay.
