GEN. SANTOS CITY – A double championship fight for the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) will now be held in the “Bakbakan sa Pres. Roxas: Ang Pagbabalik,” set on Sept. 17 at the Pres. Roxas Municipal Gym in Pres. Roxas, North Cotabato.

Comebacking Glenn “The Rock” Porras of M’lang will now be fighting Renante Suacasa of Koronadal City for the vacant Minproba bantamweight title in 8 rounds.

Porras, 31, is a former Philippine bantamweight champion while Suacasa is an ex-Minproba bantamweight title-holder.

The other 8-round championship is for the vacant Minproba junior flyweight title between the Pres Roxas’ pride Arnold Garde against Ian Ligutan of Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.

“This boxing card has turned out to be more exciting, interesting and bigger with these two Minproba championships,” said promoter Jilson Basang of MB Boxing Promotions.

Pitted in the undercard are Joey Antonio against Jessie Boyles, Pacman Cup champion Sonny Basanez of Glan, Sarangani Province versus amateur gold medallist Holly Quinones of General Santos City and Arnold Montales against Rogelio Boyles.

The boxing event is the maiden presentation of the MB Boxing Promotions, which is also owned by Erwin Maderazo of Singapore.

It is supported by Pres. Roxas Mayor Jaime Mahimpit, Philippine National Police and Provincial Health Office. It is also backed up by the Nature’s Spring Water and Dawns Catering.
