UPCOMING MMA and boxing event at the Benguet State University on October 22 were moved in anticipation of the onslaught of typhoon Lawin.

Instead, the Fight Sports Tournament (FIST) backed by the Highland Boxing Gym will move the event on November 5 as organizers deemed Lawin would hinder the arrival of the fighters coming from other places.

“Mas mabuting ipostpone natin yung event at a later date para na rin sa kapakanan ng ating mga fighters,” said promoter Brico Santig.

The event will be headlined by a double championship of the Luzon Professional Boxing Association (Luzproba) featuring Bener Santig taking on Edward Camion of Makati City for the superbantamweight title while KJ Natuplag eyes the bantamweight title against Bryan Tamayo.

Biondi Dayangadang will headline the MMA event as he guns for the inaugural Philippine Mixed Martial Arts flyweight title.

Santig of Kapangan, Benguet looks to extend his two fight win streak after edging Edward Camion of Makati City and finishing Alimar Francisco in four rounds while Natuplag, at 17-years-old, is set to extend his three fight winning streak.

Dayangadang meanwhile guns for the country’s MMA flyweight belt as he takes on Albay native Mark Joseph Abrillo.

In the supporting boxing events, La Trinidad’s Freddie Gomera faces Aldren Calombang while visiting boxers Danny Tampipi of Tarlac and Roman Canto of Makati squares off against Ralph Lulu of Bulacan and Jomar Borbon of Mandaluyong.

In the MMA events, Team Lakay’s Frennie Carantes looks to make her own mark in the women’s MMA scene as she takes on Manila-based boxer-turned-MMA fighter Jesebelle Pagaduan.

It will be a battle of a grappler against a striker with Jhaymie Gayman of La Trinidad, Benguet taking on visiting Manila striker Aferne Palarca of Elorde Dahlia.

Two boxing events featuring Shape Up Boxing Gym’s Erwin Cebuhano and Leo Bacay against Faith Fitness Center’s Mark Baliqued and a yet to be named opponent will open the curtain of the event in partnership with Tiong San, Baguio Gas Corp, Elmer Macalingay’s Health Restoreant and Ecolodge, MJ Gacad Enterprises, and Lorna Aquino Realty and Restaurant.
