New WBC bantamweight champion Luis “Pantera” Nery, who handily defeated Shinsuke Yamanka, confounding his thirteenth defense, was party line linked with the on hand Mexican media at the World Boxing Council`s weekly press conference, to discuss his extraordinary feat.The new 118-pounder did not hide the emotion he felt, as he commented it will be a night he will never forget, where he not only avenged his compatriots, but also recorded his name in history by returning an historic belt to Mexico by defeating Japanese idol, Shinsuke Yamanaka.

“I just can`t describe in words what I actually feel right at this moment.   I really have dreamed of this moment since I was a child. Fulfilling my dream in this way, in the backyard of one of the very best, is indescribable.

Today I am the green and gold champion, it sounds strange but I’m still assimilating it and not because the result surprised me as I knew that I would win, but for all the emotions that this triumph have produced in me ”

Grateful to all fans, Nery dedicated this championship to his promoter Zanfer, work team and to World Boxing Council President Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman.

The new bantamweight champion says he would like to defend his belt in Tijuana in front of his people, as a way to sincerely and appropriately thank them for all of their support.
