FILIPINO boxer Recky “The Terror” Dulay (10W-2L-0D, 7 KOs) and Dardan Zenunaj (13W-3L-0D, 10KOs) both made their weights today for their 10-round fight slated tomorrow (Sunday in Manila) at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dulay tipped the scales at 130 lbs. while Zenunaj submitted only 129 lbs.
“He (Dulay) is super ready now,” said Dulay’s manager Rey “Cacoi” Rodis Jr. of RED Boxing International.
Dulay (10W-2L-0D, 7 KOs) is now rated the World Boxing Association (WBA) no. 8 and NABO No. 1 super featherweight contender while Zenunaj (13W-3L-0D, 10KOs) is a former WBA International super featherweight champion.
“I think this is a fun fight simply because Dardan is a volume puncher, but less power,” said
“(But) he has to stop it. We have to eye for that,” Rodis, who wants Dulay to win by a knockout.
After the weigh-in, Dulay ate the Mexican Fajia chicken with rice, Chowder soup, avocado and bananas.
Rodis said that former world champion Evander Holyfield’s cornerman Rafa Ochoa will be at Dulay’s corner during the fight together with Francisco Calderon, who will assist Ochoa.
The fight is promoted by Oscar Dela Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Ken Casey of Murphys Boxing. It will be televised by USA ESPN.
Dulay previously scored a shocking 3rd round knockout against previously unbeaten Jaime Aboleda (10-0) last July 15 at the Forum in Inglewood.
“Dulay wants to win in order to have a rematch with Davis,” said Rodis.
Dulay suffered a first round technical knockout to Gervona Davis (11-0) in 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. But Dulay fought with no proper training.
“Now he wants a rematch,” Rodis said.
