A MEXICAN boxer will be testing the mettle of Romero “Ruthless” Duno, who will be seeing action in the United States anew on September 23 at the “Faboulous” Forum in Los Angeles, California.
The hard-hitting Duno will be fighting Juan Pablo Sanchez, a former WBC International Silver super featherweight champion who sports a 13W-13L-0D, 14KOs record.
“I am 100 percent ready. I will not take Sanchez lightly. He is a former champion and I saw his fights and he is a good boxer,” said Duno (14W-1L-0D-13KOs).
The 29-year-old Sanchez is coming off a unanimous decision (UD) loss to Antonio Moran. Before that, Sanchez scored a technical knockout win over Ever Ceballos last June 19, 2015 in Ciudad del Carmen.
At one point in his career, Sanchez racked up seven straight wins highlighted by a UD win over Luis Sanchez last August 17, 2013 that netted him the WBC Mundo Hispano lightweight title.
Also in that stretch, Sanchez snatched the WBC International Silver super featherweight via a knockout win over Onaivi Sierra last June 21, 2014 at the Oasis Hotel Complex, Cancun.
Sanchez failed to defend the title when he bowed to Rene Alvarado last October 11, 2014 at the same hotel in Cancun.
The Duno-Sanchez duel is part of a fight card put up by the Golden Boy Promotions of boxing great Oscar dela Hoya. The card will be headlined by Jorge Linares, who will defend his WBA/WBC/RING World lightweight titles against Luke Campbell.
Duno signed up with the Golden Boy Promotions after his impressive second-round knockout win over Christian Gonzalez last March 10 at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles.
Duno’s last fight took place last June 10 in the main event of Brawl at the Mall: The Homecoming where he knocked out Jason Tinampay in the second round at the Robinsons Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
Duno flew to the US last June to train for the September 23 card.
Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, chief executive officer of Sanman Promotions, and Dexter Tan, chief finance officer of Sanman Promotions, will fly to the US a week before the fight to support Duno.
