ROMERO “Ruthless” Duno of the Philippines will be fighting another Mexican in his third outing in the United States.
Duno, who has won already his first two fights, will now be facing Yardley Armenta Cruz on January 27 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The 10-rounder is in the undercard of the WBA world lightweight title fight between Jorge Linares and Mercito Gesta.
Duno, current WBC Youth Intercontinental lightweight title holder, is now back training under former world champion Rodel Mayol at the Freddie Roach’s Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles, California
Duno (15W-1L-0D, 13 KOs) also had a three week training at the Sanman Boxing Gym in General Santos City last month.
The 22 year old Duno previously won a convincing unanimous decision against Mexican Juan Pablo Sanchez last Sept. 23 also at the Forum.
Duno made his presence felt by making an impressive US debut via a 2nd round stoppage against then unbeaten Christian Gonzales last March 10 at the Belasco Theater in LA to capture the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental lightweight crown.
Duno then went home to Gensan to stop compatriot Jason Tinampay via a 2nd round technical knockout last June 10.
