DUNO, TINAMPAY MAKE WEIGHT IN “BRAWL AT THE MALL: THE HOMECOMING”

rrent WBC Youth Intercontinental lightweight champion Romero “Ruthless” Duno of General Santos City and his opponent Jason Tinampay both made their weights today in the official-in held at the Robinson’s Mall in General Santos City.
The 21-year old Duno only submitted 131 lbs. while Tinampay had 133 lbs. for their non-title 10-rounder main event of the “Brawl at the Mall: The Homecoming” set tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Atrium of Robinson’s Mall.
“Mas pressured ko na mudaug ugma kay mulakaw na ko paadto ug US human sa dula namo ni Tinampay,” said Duno, who will be campaigning already in the United States under his US promoter Golden Boy Promotions.
“Yes, Duno is leaving for the US after this fight,” said Duno’s manager Dexter “Wang Yu” Tan, Chief Finance Officer of Sanman Boxing Promotions.
Tinampay, however, promised to give Duno a good fight tomorrow.
“Makita lang ni sa ring ugma. Ready pud ko sa iyaha at wala ko nahadlok sa iya,” said Tinampay, who is a knockout artist with eight wins and seven knockouts but with four losses and one draw.
Duno, who has 13 wins with 12 knockouts against only one loss made an impressive US debut by scoring a 2nd round knockout against previous unbeaten Christian Gonzalez (16-1) last March 10 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California to capture the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental Lightweight title.

In the main supporting event, Aston “Mighty” Palicte and John Mark Apolinario submitted 118 and 119 lbs., respectively.
“Hindi ako puede mag kumpiyansa dahil ensayado din si Apolinario, said Palicte.
Both Palicte and Apolinario had trained at the Sanman Gym but in different schedules.
Apolinario’s younger brothers Dave and Mark are also now practicing at the Sanman Gym. Dave will fight Prince Canonero (4 rds.-108 lbs.) while Mark is facing Rusty Padua (4 rds.-112 lbs.) in the undercard.

Meanwhile, Marlon Alta of Maitum, Sarangani Province will trade punches with the undefeated Malaysian Muhamad Farkhan for six rounds.
Both fighters tipped the scales at 190 lbs.
“Pipilitin kong itayo ang bandera ng Pilipinas. Tatalunin ko siya,” said the 26-year old Alta.
Farkhan, who won all his three fights by knockouts, said that he is in good condition to make his pro debut in the Philippines.
“The venue will be more secured wecutive Officer Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil.
