Now would be the perfect time to book a rematch between lightweight standouts Eddie Alvarezand Dustin Poirier.

Alvarez, the former UFC lightweight champion and ex-Bellator champ, declared himself ‘the most violent’ man in the UFC after his bloody war with Justin Gaethje this past Saturday at UFC 218.

After a grueling opening two rounds, Alvarez, 33, knocked out former WSOF 155-pound champ Gaethje with a skull-crushing knee in the third, and it didn’t take long for Poirier to call out ‘The Underground King’ on Twitter.

Alvarez and Poirier slugged it out earlier this year at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, but the bout was ruled a No Contest (NC) due to Alvarez landing a series of illegal knees in the second round. Veteran referee Herb Dean concluded that Alvarez landed the knees unintentionally, but Poirier attempted to appeal the ruling without success.

‘The Diamond’ recently engaged in a back-and-forth war with Anthony Pettis at UFC Fight Night 120, eventually finishing ‘Showtime’ in the third round.

Although nothing has been announced, expect Alvarez and Poirier to meet in the Octagon again early next year.
