Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn obviously saw what took place over the weekend when Deontay Wilder demolished Dominic Breazeale in less than a round of action, and admits to Sky Sports that it was a very impressive performance by the American titleholder.

Now Hearn says it’s Joshua’s turn to take care of business when he faces Andy Ruiz Jr. next month, and then the superfight between Joshua and Wilder must be made for their next outing.

“The fight with AJ and Wilder is the biggest fight in the sport and all being well in two weeks’ time it must happen next – no excuses, this is the fight that will change the sport globally.

“It’s a legacy fight and AJ wants it so bad. Two big, fast, dangerous and fearless world heavyweight world champions that can turn the lights out with a blink of the eye – it’s a must.”

This at least sounds like a step in the right direction, but don’t get your hopes set too high. With the way things have been progressing a Joshua-Wilder fight has only been getting bigger, and you can ensure that both sides will be angling to maximize their profits, even if that entails more ‘marinating.’
