The negotiations for the planned unified cruiserweight title fight between champion Oleksandr Usyk and challenger Tony Bellew appear to be well along. Eddie Hearn, speaking to “Tha Boxing Voice,” confirmed that he is looking to stage the bout on November 10th in the UK.
Hearn also stated that:
- The fight will take place at cruiserweight for Usyk’s many belts.
- Usyk ultimately wants to face Anthony Joshua.
- The bout will, as expected, be Bellew’s last.
Usyk (15-0, 11 KO) outclassed Murat Gassiev for the unified titles last month, winning so dominantly that even the Russian judges were forced to give him almost every round. He has his eyes set on the heavyweight division, but Bellew (30-2-1, 20 KO) presents a tempting target.
“Bomber” had previously made his name in the cruiserweight ranks with an upset knockout of Ilunga Makabu in 2016. His recent victories over David Haye, however, have made him a genuine star attraction.
