SAO PAULO, Brazil — Winner of six in a row, Elizeu Zaleski expects some recognition from the UFC.

Moments after scoring a vicious knockout over Luigi Vendramini at Saturday night at UFC Sao Paulo, stopping the short-notice replacement opponent with a flying knee followed by punches in the second round, “Capoeira” called out former champion Robbie Lawler to dance inside the Octagon next.

”Give me a top 15. Robbie Lawler,” Zaleski told the media in Brazil after the win. “I think he’s someone we would do a great fight with. He’s a former UFC champion, he likes to brawl, and so do I. … I hope to be fighting the best, I want someone in the top 15. I expect that from the promotion. I want to fight.”

With three post-fight bonuses pocketed in his current six-fight winning streak and coming off spectacular knockouts in 2018, Zaleski says he doesn’t understand why the company hesitates in giving him someone ranked in the top 15.

At UFC Sao Paulo,”Capoeira” was originally booked to meet Belal Muhammad, but Vendramini eventually stepped in to replace the injured welterweight. Asked if he should be more vocal to have better opportunities, “Capoeira” reiterates he won’t start talking trash.

”The thing with trash talking, to talk crap about others, I don’t like it,” Zaleski said. “I want to go in there and fight, do our job. Let’s leave that for people that know how to do it. I don’t know how to curse at people’s moms.

”Am I going to change everything I’ve done so far to please some people that might leave me all of a sudden? Like I told the media all week, if I have to call someone out — like I’ve done in the past and didn’t get the fight — I’m doing it again. I simply don’t want to talk too much crap. I think it’s ugly and taints the image of the sport.”
